Cairns Libraries CCTV System - Operational Guidelines
Cairns Regional Council General Policy No: 1:06:04 - Current Adoption 19/06/2008
The objectives of the Cairns Libraries CCTV System are:
• to identify and prevent illegal and/or inappropriate behaviour within Cairns Libraries which has the potential to alarm or threaten citizens, or to result in damage of property and the functional purpose of the Library,
• to provide a formal mechanism to monitor staff working in remote areas of the library building,
• to enable staff leaving the building to scan the area around the perimeter of the building, and
• to permit the controlled provision of information by Council to the agencies of the Department of Emergency Services (Police, Ambulance, Fire) to enable the development of effective responses to observed incidents.
